Student-facing materials in this unit have been translated to Spanish.

This unit aims to help students begin to understand the concepts of identity, culture, and diversity. It also explores how, while people across our globe are different from each other, we share certain things in common. The unit ends with a lesson that uses Dr. Seuss’ story Horton Hears a Who as a gateway into a core tenet of social justice: the belief that every person matters. During the final project students will work together to build a culture of kindness in their classroom and in their homes.
