Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

SEL is the process through which children and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to: understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, make responsible decisions (source: CASEL).

College & Career Readiness (CCR)

CCR programming develops necessary skills that students need to succeed in school, work, and life. By engaging in these lessons and projects, students in kindergarten through twelfth grade have the opportunity to explore options for their future, set goals, and launch themselves toward postsecondary success.



Professional Development & Guides

This section contains a guide for administrators and lead teachers to begin and improve their school's Advocacy/Advisory program. In addition, a teacher/administrator can sign up for an hour of individual coaching to learn how to implement a unit on a specific topic in their school.

After implementing Advocacy at our school for just one semester, we have already had two new families come to Westgate because of finding out about the Advocacy program and the associated Bullying Prevention Initiative we are doing. They were impressed with the work and the school culture that resulted so they decided to send their kids here because of it!
