Service Learning (Spanish Translation)

Student-facing materials in this unit have been translated to Spanish.

Students will begin this unit by exploring the concept of engaged citizenship. They will then be introduced to the idea of service learning. Using the website www.dosomething.org (a youth-led movement for good) as a jumping-off point, they will develop a service learning project that is framed by the question “Where do my interests, talents, and a community need meet?” In small groups, they will create detailed action plans for their project, which they will then implement. Their actual service learning projects will often take place during out-of-class time. Each group will create a video showcasing their project. The unit concludes with students reflecting on what they learned from their project.
